Oct. 25th, 2010 02:32 pmI have a mid-quarter conference with one of my teachers tomorrow, and maybe he'll give me a bit of guidance on the matter. At least, I hope so, but nothing either of my teachers have done these last four weeks have really inspired much confidence in me. I did talk with an academic adviser about my options for next quarter, and she pointed out a decent number of programs to look into, but I still have five weeks to get through until then.
Meantime, I spent the last couple days watching Xiaolin Showdown as inspired by RP-based shenanigans. It was a goofy show, entertaining enough to eat up a couple lazy days. Jack really was the best part, I didn't really care for any of the other antagonists, and in seasons 2 and 3, where Jack's influence waned, so did my attention span. People just need more evil boy geniuses in their lives.

Jun. 14th, 2010 10:31 pm...Apparently television executives are getting ideas from LJ RP now. "Persons Unknown" is a total jamjar. I missed the first episode, but I'm watching the second, and I'm a little blown away by all the similarities.
People wake up in an empty town, with cameras watching them everywhere. Food is provided, along with... some spooky people who're running the hotel, or something? When they break parts of their rooms or whatever, it seems to get repaired as if nothing happened. The kidnapees all seem to have some sort of implant put in their leg to put people to sleep if they're acting wrong, or something, though at the beginning of this episode we see 'em digging in with a knife to get the things out. When they try to run out of the town with the implants gone, they run into an invisible barrier. People keep getting little messages, presumably from their captors, in the shape of fortune cookie messages. The main chick is getting ones to kill one of the other guys.
So on and so forth. I'm not sure I would care if it weren't so... DC 2.0.
