Aug. 7th, 2011 04:30 pmHmm. Okay, all you animation people on the flist, feel free to correct me here, but I've just been thinking.
In Disney, Mickey has Minnie, Donald has Daisy, but as far as I know, Goofy didn't ever really have much in the way of a love interest. And yet, of the three, Goofy is the only one in any continuity to have a child--they specifically made a point with Donald to have him only take care of his nephews.
So, basically, Disney made a point, with their three most iconic characters, to make the only one with a child be a single parent.
Just thought that was interesting.

Jul. 29th, 2011 01:16 pmWELL OKAY now that LJ is working again
This has been a relatively good week! It felt like I did things. Enough to call for a list!
-It took me 8 days to finish A Dance With Dragons, and though I was underwhelmed in comparison to the huge wait, in the end I was pretty happy with it.
-I managed to finish that huge beast right before heading off to Disneyland with
lynxgriffin,
yamikonumber7, and meeting
bouncy_erbear for the first time! Those ladies are absolutely fabulous to hang out with, and D-land is fun as ever. Hopefully, next time I won't have to wait as long to go.
-Got a lot of brainstorming in with Lynx and the others about ideas for MSTgame, which really kinda got me looking forward to it. We're gonna have so much fun with this thing, I think.
-Absolutely exhausted after several days without sleep, I returned home... only for my dad to hand me Ghost Story as soon as he picked me up at the airport. WHELP.
-Though, Ghost Story only took me a day. It's practically a pamphlet in comparison to aforementioned dancing with dragons, but I think of just as much substance in half the pages.
-OLD SPICE vs. FABIO. More manliness than can be really handled.
-PROJECT RUNWAY IS BACK
-My manager has invited me to a tabletop game of Mouseguard, and lent me the comic it was based on. It looks like it'll be an interesting time.
-I found out there's going to be a Rifftrax Live broadcasting on the 17th! I have to get in on that.
-Have you heard me talk about Improv Everywhere? And how much I love them and would love to be part of their stuff? They've got something going down in San Fran on the 16th. I wouldn't miss it for the world 8DDDD
And that has been my last approximate week or so! I think it all adds up to a pretty positive experience. Also, I'll be catching Cowboys & Aliens Sunday, I'm guessing that'll add to the good time. Yaaaay!

Characters: Hajime, Jack, Ryuuta, Saito, Suzuki (XI!Verse)
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Summary: Freaking nosy empaths just can't leave well enough alone, sometimes.
Notes: Just needed to get this out; there's no way this wouldn't come up, in a group like this. But whoops, Saito came out as kind of a huge jerk, sorry cyclops-bro =(

Jul. 11th, 2011 02:34 amBeen a while, huh? Things have been happening, and things I've been enjoying, at that, but nothing that really felt like I really needed to update the journal for:
-Planning on going to Disneyland with
lynxgriffin ,
bouncy_erbear , and
yamikonumber7 later this month.
-Finally started writing again. OP-ish still, but Klabautermann should be a step outside the norm.
-Struggling at SC again. Everyone's focused on the plot, and I just can't get my bearings with that in the slightest.
-Started a Pokemon Nuzlocke Challenge, and got all the way to Celadon Rocket Base before my first death... which made it hit all the harder. She was a good Vulpix...
-Belatedly, oh yeah, I did a meme.
Comment with "Cheese, please!," and:
- I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
- Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
- Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

Jun. 15th, 2011 05:30 pmBrute-forced my way through 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors. I was getting pretty disappointed with myself because apparently I was getting every single bad ending before the good ending... before I found out that the very first ending I got WAS the good ending. However, for it to be completed, they actually require you to unlock one of the other endings (which happened to be the second ending I got.) It took like four days, which is a pretty long time for me on a puzzle game honestly--usually I can power through in a day, but each of the Important Routes took me a day each, and then a lot of messing around with trying to find the other ones. It made me start playing Sudoku again, damn this thing. I might have a Seven muse, because he's awesome. Also, I can't help but find parallels between Seven/Lotus and Franky/Robin, which makes me giggle a little.
Speaking of One Piece, GOOD LORD finally we're getting back to the good stuff. We spent enough time from the crew already, every little bit seems like fresh air. Brook, you silly moron, you ruin everything <3 Though seriously, how the heck did Zoro get caught? Will Franky get to blow something up? Please? Figures it would happen right after the big Second City plot where I don't know what fighting abilities he has. Hurrrrr.
Also speaking of Second City, 4th Wall Day! Never been in a 4th wall thing before... but hopefully it will be fun? Damn, I just need to be more active in general over there =( Franky torture does not excuse all the tags I've been ignoring.
Looks like the Mom Train is already on the verge of coming down. But I can't really blame her when I stay up until 5 in the morning playing 999, sleep until 1 PM, then spend the rest of the waking hours holed in my room. Shaping up to be a fun fun summer.

Jun. 10th, 2011 04:32 pmOkay, this turned out to be less just about Hajime and bled in a few areas into stuff about the Ouendan squad or things about his family, but it's still mostly focused on him. This took me a few days of staring at the list to complete, I'm not good at coming up with random facts like this, but it was a lot of fun!

Jun. 5th, 2011 05:26 amAbout this time last year, I had a panic attack because I hadn't planned well in advance and had no idea where I was going to store my stuff over the summer.
Good news: A friend living in the area has agreed to store my belongings for the months I have gone!
Bad news: Though, I have no actual boxes or storage stuff to put my belongings in...
Bad news: ...and even if I did, I don't know how to get it over there. IDK if using the bus to transport boxes is very feasible or if the bus drivers allow it even, and I don't feel comfortable asking for help from my roommate with a car who doesn't like me.
Good news: Though I have found one cardboard box by lurking around the cardboard recycling bins! In fact, I think it would be large enough to carry all my stuff, if I needed to, even a couple things that really are too big for conventional boxes.
Bad news: ...which leads to the logical issue that this box is way too big, to the point it needs to be turned on its side to even fit through doors. This would be not only a bitch to carry but compress the whole "how do I transport this" problem even further. Also putting all my stuff in one box would be HEAVY.
I'm starting to think I should just hit up Target or maybe Goodwill tomorrow and see if I can buy some storage bins, which would at least be easier to carry around. But that transport thing is still an issue.
Also Washington should really not be a place where it gets too hot to sleep. That just feels wrong to me.
Hahaha ~first world problems~

Jun. 2nd, 2011 05:39 amTitle: Miso Hungry
Characters: Tanaka Hajime, Jack Spicer, the Tanaka family (XI!Verse)
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Summary: Delicious surprises and small let downs.
Notes: Written in the wee hours of the morning so it's rambly and could probably use editing but I'm tired ._.

Title: How Brothers Get
Characters: Tanaka Hajime, Jack Spicer, the Tanaka family (XI!Verse)
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Summary: Families work weird. Especially when they get an add-on.
Notes: I took this kind of as an excuse to develop Hajime's family, on top of how Jack settles in. Not as focused or as light-hearted as I was hoping it'd be, but still interesting I hope? Other ones will be more fun, I promise.

May. 3rd, 2011 12:05 amOh man, this week is going to be a doozy. I'm slogging through the various readings due for seminar on Wednesday, and while none of them are too terribly long I can't really make heads or tails of what it is most of them are getting at. That's just a mild inconvenience to compound on top of completing research and an annotated bibliography on a topic that really is rather impossible to find primary sources for, as well as putting the finishing touches on the group project of a (freakin awesome) puppet show. I just can't wait until Friday. I'm gonna get down on Friday.
On the RP front, I'm all a tangle of conflict; I've already put my foot down and will be dropping Franky at XI within the next couple of days (probably after things get less distracting), and I had just about decided that it was time to take Hajime out of the Institute as well. Until I got to talk with Olaf, finally, for the first time in ages, and... well, dammit, I just can't resist that girl. Logs with Mod have consistently been the absolute most fascinating and entertaining parts of my entire run at that game, and the promise of the drought ending is enough to make me cling on... just a little longer...
Another thing to do once things settle down after this week is replay Ghost Trick if I want to make sure I can handle picking up Missile at Second City. That dog has all my love, and I want to do him justice. After all, no one can complain about a hyperactive puppy ghost after they've gotten used to the ponies.

Apr. 25th, 2011 12:19 amBig fat con happened and then stopped happening! It was mostly fun in spite of a little drama that I was only indirectly a part of anyway so we good.
I have no idea how to get pictures off my phone and onto a computer, and thusly no way to show off all the cool things I saw without stalking the appropriate /cgl/ thread and other such locations, which is what I am doing. Some people even asked for pictures of me! That was weird, but strangely exciting, if you can believe it.
I almost went the whole time without buying nearly anything that cost over ten dollars but then I found the One Piece artbooks and everything was out the window. Now I have to put all the money people gave me for the hotel back into my account because that thing is draiiiiined.
