Aug. 7th, 2011 04:30 pmHmm. Okay, all you animation people on the flist, feel free to correct me here, but I've just been thinking.
In Disney, Mickey has Minnie, Donald has Daisy, but as far as I know, Goofy didn't ever really have much in the way of a love interest. And yet, of the three, Goofy is the only one in any continuity to have a child--they specifically made a point with Donald to have him only take care of his nephews.
So, basically, Disney made a point, with their three most iconic characters, to make the only one with a child be a single parent.
Just thought that was interesting.

Date: 2011-08-08 03:12 am (UTC)I'm surprised there's not an episode of Goof Troop out there with Max wondering why he's not got a mom.

Date: 2011-08-08 03:37 am (UTC)I'm pretty sure he's a widower and his wife died when Max was little; that's the implication I get from Goof Troop, I think she comes up in conversation like once and Goofy just gets sad.

Date: 2011-08-09 05:12 pm (UTC)This kind of reminds me of Chuckie and his dad in Rugrats. The mother's day episode where they actually address the fact that Chuckie's mom is dead always makes me bawl like a little baby (no pun intended).
Sometimes Goofy has a cow for a girlfriend in the really old cartoons, and also in Three Muskateers (a newer movie, I have it on DVD derp a derp).
