CREATURES OF THE NIIIIGHT

I don't get why so many freakin' games feel the need to put in vampires when it doesn't really fit in with the plot. I mean I haven't played most of them, so I don't know if they have it fit better in the universe, but it just doesn't seem to make sense based on what I know.

Metal Gear Solid: war games, lots of guns and sneaking around, shooting people, with clones and robots, advanced technology, bioengineered soldiers and... vampires. Where is the connection?

Fallout: Post-apocalyptic, grungy and based around nuclear activity. There are monsters, but the vampires are, as far as I can tell, random throw-ins of normal humans who drink blood and don't go into the sun because they are "creatures of the darkness." It would be one thing if they were just straight-up Refined Cannibals or whatever, but they gotta be vampires.

I bet there are others out there, too, but those are the ones that stand out as kinda random to me.

Aha, I haven't played MGS much (i.e. at all), so I'm sure if I were actually in on the silliness this probably wouldn't make me blink much at all.

Yeah I mean, Psychomantis is a telekinetic telepath, Vulcan Raven can foresee the future (or something I guess???? also he talks to/controls ravens), there's Fortune who is unable to die because her psychic powers deflect bullets, THE PAIN who controls bees and has them crawling around under his skin (or...I dunno, it's MGS), the Fear who's some sort of freaky half-spider crazy dude, THE FURY who's a Russian cosmonaut who saw earth from space and went crazy and came back wanting to BURN EVERYTHING, the list just goes on forever man. Vamp's almost normal, comparatively.

she only thinks she is unable to die because of psychic powers but really it is regular everyday magnetism that is protecting her

which makes me wonder why someone doesn't just, like

I KNOW RIGHT man it's like, teamwork is day one of any evil organization training seminar. I guess Fortune skipped out or Vamp was too busy making out with the instructor or something and they never got to the part about using their gimmicks in tandem.
