Date: 2010-12-03 02:15 am (UTC)But the worst/scariest thing about her conversation with John was how completely serious she seemed in her explanation of her motives. It was kinda like the text equivalent of one of those serial killer speeches where they explain how they had to murder everyone for their own good.

There were a lot of people on the forums right after Jade: Enter pointing out how she was smiling in the flash when Bec Noir showed up in the trolls' session and were using that as theory-fuel to guess that she might have been a collaborator with him somehow. At first I was like, "Nahhh, who'd be that stupid and also how would the time work out," but apparently I give Vriska waaaaaaaay more credit than she deserves. :/
I just
I just don't get how she thinks she can beat someone with first guardian powers. Even with the magic cue ball she lost in the games she played with Doc Scratch, and screwing around with that also blew up in her face, both literally and metaphorically. Maybe she's going to try ganking his luck or something, but I don't see how conventional tactics (or basically anything anyone could ever pull off without resorting to cheating) is going to beat what's essentially a glitched out end boss.
argh VRISKA WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING ADFASDFJK;

Date: 2010-12-03 07:47 am (UTC)I dunno about her conspiring with Jack, but... well, thinking about it, it does make sense. She did have the plan in her own game to try and doublecross everyone to take control, regardless of how bad an idea it might have seemed. I don't know how she would plan on it, but honestly, who can understand all those irons she has in the fire.
You could say that Vriska's defining character trait is her desperate need for attention. She wants all the eyes on her. All of them. And she will achieve that through whatever means possible. She doesn't care if they're looking out of approval or fury, the point is that they're looking at her. Because it will validate her, and make her important.
I don't think it even occurs to her that there are other ways to think of this. She sees herself as the single most important person, and to let other people be the focus is simply an insult to her. As far as she can tell, a simple "sorry" should make everything better; it's impossible for her to understand the viewpoints of others. In other words, she's a sociopath.
When things go right, it's because she's great. When things go wrong, it's due to bad luck. Nothing is ever her fault, which is why she has yet to learn from anything.
Basically what this all boils down to is she's a pretty psychologically developed and interesting character but that doesn't change that she is BLUH BLUH HUGEST BITCH

Date: 2010-12-03 08:13 am (UTC)Oh yeah, totally with you on the needs-to-be-the-center-of-attention/HUGE BITCH deal. It's just the actual execution of her unbrilliant plan I'm not getting. Her mentioning how strong seem to imply she's going to go after Jack like he's just an ultra-powerful boss character.

Date: 2010-12-03 08:31 am (UTC)I think that you worded it just right: he's still just an endboss to her. It's still all a game to her. Which is all that her things have ever been: games. Horrible, deadly games.
