Oh my god One Piece, what are you even--Franky and Brook's stories are terrifying. Like, Franky's hilarious and badass but also terrifying, because it makes you think, oh my god how did he do all that by himself without any proper tools and it blows my mind to even start figuring it out. I'm a little sad it looks like they're going to make it so he doesn't get credit for the disaster and huge bounty increase, too. And Brook's thing... it's... ugh. So bad. Has this man not had enough to deal with already? Reduced to a circus attraction? It's terrifying DDDD=

Bluh bluh the latest plot at XI drove me nuts for a few days but I'm getting over it. Franky's the only one in the midst of it right now and lord knows he doesn't get bothered by this stuff. But Hajime was freaking out so hard that I actually lost sleep over it--took some brainwashing to calm him down, but now we're both feeling better about it. I can handle this, though I'm still miffed. I'm looking forward to events at 2C, it's been slow enough that I bet lots of people will make this latest stuff interesting.

Finally watching the Very Potter Sequel. It's awesome.

When I was first moving into my dorm and getting used to this state, I kept thinking of this. It made me entertained all the way through.

For a few years in middle school, I played the piano, prety much solely for the reason that I was tired of how my sister would play it and then when relatives came over they'd go "OOOOOOH CAITLIN PLAY FOR US ON THE PIANO." This was the last song I learned before my parents got tired of my whining about practicing and stopped paying for lessons. For years I could play it on muscle memory, and it's only been a year or so since I noticed that it finally has vanished for good.

I suppose a bounty increase would defeat the purpose of lying low, but damn. Franky deserves credit for that! Maybe he'll get it later on.

He amuses me so though. "I'm gonna live here - I'll store my cola in your house though."

Brook's situation makes me chuckle and go D8 all at the same time. Because a freak show is cruel. But... then he's just so casual about it all. WHICH IS ALSO SAD, but then the way he does it takes some of the edge off. The man was just reading a newspaper.

The real cincher is that he's probably thin enough to just walk through those bars.

It makes me sad that the majority of the fandom doesn't even notice how awesome Franky is being right now ._. Blarrrrrgh character bias.

I half wonder just how fully aware Brook is of the situation. He's kind of surrounded by people, but hey, his music affects people now! I'm hoping he'll put them to sleep and get away because D=

Franky totally belongs on the Fridge Horror page now. Oh my god he had to replace his gums I am still not over or remotely okay with that. How do you even. Just. /barf

Oda has this distinct pattern of including completely horrible content in the series without ever having to go on about it at length. Like Usopp being negative (AHAHA that's funny wait no it fucking isn't D:), or Brook laughing hysterically before having a happy chat about spending years wanting to die, or OH MY GOD TERMINATOR!FRANKY MAKES MY ENTIRE SKIN HURT, or...you know, pretty much every single antagonist in all of Thriller Bark. We didn't need a million pages of detailed Hogback/Cindry squick, we didn't need an extended "btw Franky looked like raw meat for a while there, have some art :D" sequence, and we didn't need to see what went on during that somewhat unsettling 35-year flashback gap after Brook started getting weird.

But it's there, man. ( o_o) I wish more writers had the sense to do things like that, really.

Still want Absalom and Hogback to die in a fire, on a related note. I know nobody dies in OP without damn good reason, but...Ryuuma died! Sure he was a zombie and it "doesn't count" but dammit he was horrible and needed to die forever. I can live with Perona being the token recurring side villain for that arc, creepy fanboys aside. I can. But god damn we just don't need those two skeevebuckets around ever again.

Yeah, Oda's mastery of showing exactly enough to terrify you not only makes for better storytelling but leaves great opportunity for nerds like us to speculate or write fanfics or just go vomit. Noodle Incidents are always the best at capturing your imagination.

Ugh ugh ugh I would be so okay if we never saw either of them again. I don't even want to see them again if they die at the end, I want them to vanish into the ocean and be forgotten because I cannot handle more of that ridiculous skeevery that they bring with them.

For good or for (violently) ill. Also yesss the speculation and fics and the like are awesome fun with a setup like this, because you know? If you want to go wallow in what you're pretty sure is behind that creepy narrative door for a while, you can, and then you can leave and close the door and go back to canon and the door is still closed. Or at least it's closed just enough that you don't have to look inside again until and unless you really feel like it.

Whereas with a really gritty in-your-face-awful canon, no matter how good it is, sometimes you just have to walk away for a prolonged period of time to get it off you. I can't stay a regular in Watchmen fandom for exactly this reason. :/

But with OP you can write fifteen chapters of fluff and nonsense and it's 100% true to canon's delicious flavor. You can also write fifteen chapters of complete horror, but you don't have to. It's not gonna hover around your head until you do.

Your take on the ultimate fate o' the skeeves is probably a better one than anything we'll get, because they're just...so completely gross that it has no place outside of the specific horror-genre feel of Thriller Bark. I don't need them to show up having a wacky bumbling adventure in bright colors and silliness because lol real sexual skeevery is totally suitable for lighthearted comedy, right guys? Guys?
