NEW SEASON OF DIGIMON! WHEEEEE
A lot of fans think that the seasons stopped being worth watching after season two. I, however, still love this show to pieces and totally one hundred percent plan on watching this through; I loved Data Savers, and there's no reason to shoot down this new series without giving it a look. And when I realized the first episode was already out today, you better believe I squee'd!

-So, the main character, Taiki. He's... well... I'm not convinced by him yet. He's a little bit too HERO, you know? A bleeding heart who keeps putting himself out there for other people, isn't selfish, and pushes himself to the point of collapsing for the sake of others... actually, considering the guys I like to RP, that's not all that bad. BUT the fact that he's also good at all the sports he tries, first time around? That's a bit annoying. At least they remembered to give him goggles this time.
-The Girl, Akari. She follows Taiki around, is spunky and is annoyed by how hard he pushes himself but supports him anyway. A Childhood Friend. I'm hoping there's more depth to her character.
-The Third Guy, though, is one I'm looking forward to seeing. Tsurugi. He's obvious comic relief fodder, having been introduced as the main character's RIVAL who the main character can't even remember the name of. But he tries to take himself serious anyway, it's just a little adorable in that derpy way.
-Here's the kicker: apparently, this season's got something to do with music. The characters keep their partner Digimon stored in their digivice stand-ins by recording their Melodies. Judging by the opening animation, it looks like the Main Digimon have headphones, too. I can get behind this.
-And Taiki's partner, Shoutmon? He insists he is "THE MAN WHO WILL BE KING" and he fights with a microphone. He's some sort of. EBA fusion with Luffy. And this entertains me endlessly.
-I am a little disappointed by the lack of using appropriate terms like "digivice" or "digivolution." I mean, that's like the backbone of Digimon essence!
-Also not yet sure how I feel about the fusion-type digivolving we got going on. An interesting idea, sure--we caught a glimpse of it back in season 2 with the DNA Digivolution--but I wonder how they'll execute it to keep it proper interesting? It's too early to see.

In summation, I'm not wholly convinced this is gonna be a great season, yet. But it's early, and it has a few things going for it to keep me entertained. Besides. MORE DIGIMANZ 8D

oooh I will have to look into this. I only watched some of Frontier and disliked it. I think I only watched the first ep of Savers. Maaaaybe I'll try it again.

I didn't much like Frontier, either. I think a lot of people like it the least. I watched Savers all in Japanese, which I think really made the difference, it was a lot of fun there but I didn't much bother with the English version. Tamers was my favorite when I was a kid, but when I started to rewatch it recently I felt it was a bit slow to start.

I think what makes it good is that Takato was a lot more normal and easy to relate to than a lot of the Goggle Leaders, but then again that's sometimes less entertaining to watch.

I've seen fanarts of those sorts of things just giving little tastes of how great it could be |D I honestly don't know why they haven't done some like special episode for it. Like that one Power Rangers episode with all the Reds. God that would be cool.

Yep! I heard about it a few months back, but didn't know anything about it besides the name of it. And then today I got reminded about it, looked up when it was starting, hey it started on Tuesday, time to go find an episode =D

I still haven't seen Data Savers...but I can say I didn't give up after season two (although season three is probably still pretty low on my rank list).

Originally I liked three the best as a kid, though now I'm not sure how to rank them all. They're all pretty different, especially once you get to season four.

I will always have a soft spot for one and two. I mean, those were the first anime for me AND the seasons I created my own digimon + evolutions + crest for |D

Not bad, I like that it's back to kids. What threw me off about Season 5 was that it was teens/adults with digimon mostly and despite the fact that I should relate more to them...I like it when the digimon are paired with kids.

I don't think I can watch XROS now without thinking of EBA throughout the season.

haha, same. I think it was those first couple seasons that got me first started with really drawing, to come up with my first few digimon. Good times...

Savers definitely has a different feel from some of the other seasons, I can see why it might throw you off. I like that they mixed it up a little, personally.

I actually "built" mine. My digimon was based on this toy I had...only I added wings to it and a longer tail. It was named Parkamon for no really well explained reason.

I... actually briefly fiddled with the idea of making EBA-inspired Digimon earlier in the year... and drew up a couple... ._. there are nine different types of digimon and nine of them, after I realized that I was like "fffffffff"

Oh, that sounds interesting. I stopped watching Digimon after... the one with Henry and Terrimon and Renamon. I only know dub names. Don't entirely remember why I stopped after that. If I wasn't so horrible with watching things and know I'd forget to, I'd probably think about giving it a try. You can't go wrong with headphones.

MSPA has been a bunch of "do not want" lately for me but now has moved to "not sure if want." =/ Though, Davesprite vs Aradiasprite, that possible?

Can't blame you, the fourth season was a low point for a lot of people, and the fifth didn't come for like four years later. Hopefully musical Digimans proves entertaining.

Yeah, it's a weird thing going on lately. I'm a bit baffled about how to feel with such unpleasantness going on for some of the characters. Froggirl sprite vs. birdboy sprite would be pretty cool though

I didn't watch season 4 until much later and I actually liked it. Granted I watched the 'subbed' and maybe that had something to do with it. But I thought it was entertaining :3

Yeah, I watched the first few episodes subbed a few years after it came out, and enjoyed it a lot more. Unfortunately I couldn't find the rest of the episodes. I watched all of Savers subbed, too, which was a lot of fun, but made the few episodes I saw of the dubbed version a little bit painful =B

I didn't even know there was such a long gap between seasons. I think I've seen a few eps of of the fourth but never the beginning, so I had no connection to anything. (And the lack of Digimon partners confused me.) The fifth I know nothing about. Keep us updated on how this one goes.

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel about them either. Except for the centaur one. I... really don't want to know anymore about that troll. Not at all. ._.

Yeah, I think that was a big problem a lot of people had with the fourth season. That, and the fact that the Two Main Guys severely outranked the other characters in power by the end. Season five was a lot more balanced, I'm hoping they keep that trend this time around.
