unij: YOU BET KID (Killed the moon!)

There is something overwhelmingly satisfying about reading reviews for the Airbender movie. Every single one is negative. Last I checked it had a 7% on Rotten Tomatoes. Roger Ebert thought it was supposed to be post-apocalyptic. No one can get over how bad the 3D is. The performances are consistently compared to wood. It gives me hope; hope that this movie will fail so hard that there is no possible hope of the planned sequels coming into fruition and hurting the fans any further.

Some deep down, naive part of me actually hopes that, in a decade or something, a director who won't ruin the series so thoroughly and instead will give it the treatment deserves will arise and make something worthy of the Airbender title. But if not, well, at least we can all agree that Shamalamadingdong is a moron who fails on every level.

I also will never get tired of this icon.

It debuted at 0% if that makes you feel even better. We'll know in a couple weeks whether or not Shyamalan gets greenlit for a sequel.

That's pretty awesome. Though I checked a minute ago, it's moved up to 10, gasp and alarm and etc. I saw one person who was thinking that Shambayla should resign as a director and make an apology after this, though I can't say if that's just being dramatic or not. Either way, time'll tell.

I am SO FULL OF VINDICTIVE GLEE over this film's dismal failure. NO MORE GUYS NO MORE NOT EVER.

The epic levels of schadenfreude to be had are just overwhelming in their vindictive glory.

I got dragged to see it yesterday it was so bad oh my god. SO MANY THINGS WRONG WITH IT. The acting, the script, the CG. I didn't see it in 3D, but I know it was an afterthought, which usually means its god awful. The whole thing was just a horrifying film, all the characters were bland and had no development, and they took all the fun and humor out.

>:C

Oh dear you poor soul. I've heard it's not even the sort of thing you can go at and laugh at the badness, it just sounds really dull... seriously, how do you take source material that awesome and ruin it so thoroughly?

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2010-07-02 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG I know, I've seriously been chewing on this delicious schadenfreude since Wednesday. And I'm pretty certain now that the two sequels will be canceled, since even hardcore fans are raving about how horrible it is, and this fills me with cruel glee.

I can only cross my fingers at this point that Hollywood knows how to take a hint; they've made dumber decisions in the past, after all, but it's hard to imagine how they can not figure it out this time. Meantime, I'll just give a mean-spirited smirk every time I find a new article.

[identity profile] lynxgriffin.livejournal.com 2010-07-02 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
They damn well better take the hint, and take it hard. Obviously the actual POINT of that hint won't hit home, because it never does, but maybe it at least will in this particular case.

*Mean smirks with you* >3

YOU AND ME BOTH.

What really sucks is that I used to adore M. Night's stuff; I was a HUGE fan of his, but it's like... ever since Lady in the Water, he got worse and worse and MORE egotistical. It's insane. (And this is coming from someone who even liked LitW okay, I just rolled my eyes at his self-insertion character.) And he REFUSES to admit how badly he does and dkhdflkhasd AHHHHHHHH.

I've never really cared one way or another for Shammy's stuff, as his genre was usually out of my interest zone--though, I watched the first ten minutes of The Happening and couldn't believe how overwhelmingly terrible it was. "I like to hide my emotions too." It's hard to imagine how he's gonna get out of this mess, with all the attention it's getting.

I've heard so much bad about it; I don't even want to see an ad for it. I... don't even want to go near it. ._.

... Zhao punched the Moon Fish to kill it? Is that what I'm getting from this?

[identity profile] universejuice.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Probably a safe decision.

Yes! Or, in the original, it looks like he's punching it. In this one, he pulls out a knife and then stab-punches it. Or. Something.
