Been a while, huh? Things have been happening, and things I've been enjoying, at that, but nothing that really felt like I really needed to update the journal for:
-Planning on going to Disneyland with [livejournal.com profile] lynxgriffin , [livejournal.com profile] bouncy_erbear , and [livejournal.com profile] yamikonumber7  later this month.
-Finally started writing again. OP-ish still, but Klabautermann should be a step outside the norm.
-Struggling at SC again. Everyone's focused on the plot, and I just can't get my bearings with that in the slightest.
-Started a Pokemon Nuzlocke Challenge, and got all the way to Celadon Rocket Base before my first death... which made it hit all the harder. She was a good Vulpix...
-Belatedly, oh yeah, I did a meme.

Comment with "Cheese, please!," and:

- I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
- Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
- Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

There was a blackout last night that prevented me from getting any work done on NaNo, and also on the paper that was due today. Luckily, due to said blackout not only affecting the whole campus but even the town as a whole well into this morning, class was canceled and I am able to finish said paper today. However, there is also a project due tomorrow, so now I need to work on two projects, further delaying any progress with NaNo.

Considering I've more or less completely run out of ideas with where I'm going with NaNo, I'm mostly glad for the excuse not to stare at the word count and try to will it up another few thousand words. Good lord is this month over yet.

Day 23: Pokemon -Favorite Evil organization?

I always thought that Aqua and Magma had pretty dumb plans, and I never even finished Pearl so I don't really care for Galactic much at all. Besides, even if Rockets were just 'evil for the sake of evil' which is always pretty dumb, the fact that they were around for two whole generations makes a much better impression in my mind.

I love that 5th Gen is gonna be evil hippies too )
Dear RPS:

Thank you for letting me know that there is a TV Tropes page for LJRP. Which then let me find out there's a page for Daisychain. Which sent me on another nostalgia trip. Aaaaaaaa. It's really tempting to go and fill that sucker out even more but my Trope-fu is weak.

Day 20: Digimon -Least favorite season?
With retrospect, Frontier really wasn't all that bad. It still had some great characters and a big overarching plot, but... when you get down to it, part of what really made the show special was the connection between a kid and their partner. Without that, the show was much harder to appreciate fully. Not to mention the two main guys far outranked the other characters by the end, which always frustrated me.

Day 21: Pokemon -Favorite Friendship
Again, I haven't watched the show in years. However, the original trio of Ash, Brock and Misty will always be the best in my nostalgic mind. And I can trust that, one way or another, Brock will always show up again to be Ash's bro.

Bluh bluh trying to figure out how to make an art project with legos and trying to figure out how I'm going to get to Seattle this weekend. My brain is not assisting the process much. =\

I should try and actually have something of interest to say on these ._. sorry guys

2) In the search bar, type in your first name followed by "hedgehog", "echidna", "bat", "fox", etc.
3) Look at all the Sonic fancharacters!

Day 17: Pokemon -Favorite Contest outfit?
...What? There are different ones? I always thought the one you had to wear in the game was pretty ugly.

You know how to tell when you had a good teacher? When they send you an email, and when you find it in your inbox, you get a warm feeling in your heart. I missed this guy =3

Got medicine for my ears, which hopefully means I'll soon be feeling less grumpy and ill all the time. In the meantime, WHOOPS FALLING BEHIND ON NANO

Day 15: Pokemon -COOLEST Boy?

That one Camper from Red and Blue; he was a cool guy. He had a girlfriend!

Day 16: Digimon -Favorite Friendship?

Oh god why would you make me pick this, five seasons and so many friendships.... on the biased note, I loved the fact that Joe and Gomamon were such complete opposites in nature, and even argued a lot early on. I also love how Davis could make pretty much friends with anyone off the bat, in spite of what a pure derp he was. In particular, how he refused to ever doubt Ken, from the very start. Such total bros.

Ugh, seriously, my messed up ear is just... wholly distracting. I've been taking painkillers all day, since the Student Health Center is only open weekdays, and I really hope they can help me out tomorrow because dealing with this is a bitch. I even feel a bit out of it and woozy by this point, but that might just be because the pain kept me from getting a lot of sleep last night. YAY. And believe you me it is not fun trying to focus on NaNo like this.

Day 13: What do you think of Black and White/Best Wishes?
No real opinion.

Day 14: Digimon -COOLEST Boy?
The archetype of the second-in-command character throughout the seasons provided a lot of very cool boys that launched a thousand young children into fangirlism, but when you get down to it, the one character I looked at and thought, "Now THAT dude's a badass," was Ryo from Tamers. He'd been living in the Digital World for years, had a really hardcore dragon-type Digimon and his Mega form looked all sorts of awesome, and he wasn't even a dick about it; the guy was genuinely likable. Also, out of curiosity, I spent some time on the Digimon Wiki a little while back trying to better understand his backstory, and it turns out he actually links Tamers and 02 together. Friggin' sweet.

Just passed eight thousand and managed to get to a part that got really pretty fun to write, which at least was good for the day's worth. The slight issue is I didn't plan a whole lot of stuff to happen after this point, maybe another day's worth... but I'll worry about that when I get there! At this point I'm just glad to meet each day's quota.

Day 11: Pokemon -Favorite Manga Character?
Ehh, it's been a while since I've actually read the comic, but I really did enjoy it at the time... I'd have to go with Red or Yellow, I think. they're both pretty good heroes, without too many annoying character traits that I think get in the way of a lot of the other guys.

unij: YOU BET KID (Psy-yai-yai...)
Augh NaNo continues to resist me -_- I'm at about 2,500 right now, I think my problem is I'm trying too hard to make it sound good and should just freakin' write. Durrrr.

Also my phone is being weird and not letting me call out, while my mom says that it sends her to voice mail when she calls despite it being on. Also my tooth brush recharger is broken. lol technology.

Day 09: Favorite Pokeball?
I guess the Nest Ball has been pretty useful, since I didn't pay any attention to catching more Pokemon until waaaay after when my main team was powerful enough to oneshot almost anything in the wild. Quick Ball has been useful also. This is kind of a silly question.

Hahaha, I've only spent like an hour or so outside in my costume but there've already been people calling out in recognition. Nothing beats nostalgia, guys. (Though I'm like the only person I've seen yet in costume. I guess everyone else is too much of a pansy to put on their costumes before evening.)

Day 07: Pokemon -Favorite Quote?
I stopped watching the show sometime back in '01 or '02, and though if I rewatched the early seasons I'm sure I'd find some gems, I can't really remember any good lines from it. But as far as games go, the complete dumbness of some of the opening battle lines are amazing. Say, for example, my icon. Or, "I like leaving footprints in the sand!" Quite intimidating indeed.

EDIT: You know what line I remember loving from the second movie? There was all this dramatic buildup to blah blah blah Ash has to save the world again, then it just cuts to Slowking standing in the snow and saying, "I wish I had pants =|" What can I say, I'm a sucker for pants jokes.

30 Days of Pokemon/Digimon

unij: YOU BET KID (Guh-loooooom)
Hahaha, I was actually social today, what's up with that. Some friends and I took a long drive to see another friend, it was a lot of fun though now I am real life'd out. Worth it!

Also getting Hajime in a fight with the goddamn Jabberwock has possibly been the most epic thing I've done in RP for quite a while. Hell yeah.

Day 05: Pokemon -Favorite video-game?
Silver. I can't really be sure right now if Soul Silver outranks it, because they really did a great job with the remake, but I just remember loving Silver with such a passion when it came out, and ever since. I can still pick it up to play today and love the heck out of it. Soul Silver really does a great job of keeping things from the original version while bringing in new and exciting things; Leaf Green was nice for having updated graphics, I guess, but I actually have less fun playing that than my original Blue cartridge.

Haha, wow, I'm finally back into rhyme-writing, and it's not even for Spin. I feel soooooo out of practice, but it's fun to finally try it again.

Also it's a pretty bad sign when I've fallen behind on this meme THIS early in the month but oh well RET'S GO!

Day 03: Pokemon -Favorite Movie?
I remember the second movie was coming out right when my love for the Pokemon series was on the decline, I only went to see it because they gave you the then-rare Ancient Mew card on opening weekend. Of course, afterwards the price plummeted, derp derp. All the movies have been honestly dorky as all heck, but I remember enjoying the Lucario movie when I saw it on TV, pretty much because Lucario's a huge badass.

Day 04: Digimon -Favorite Female Character?
As a little girl, I thought Sora was the most awesome fictional girl there was. She was cool, and she could fight, but she was nice, and she was good at soccer and was taken completely seriously by all the guys as an important member of the team. It's worth noting that I remember hating Yolei when I first saw Season 2, but when I rewatched it last year I thought she was a really great and well-designed character, too.

Oooookay I am going to do this thing. I kind of am tempted  to do the video game one as well, but let's be honest, Sarah hasn't played a lot of games. There will be a lot of listing of the same thing over and over. But Digimon and Pokemon? THAT I can do! Drr drr holes and all that.

Day 01: Your Pokemon dream-team?

I am not much of a competitive player. I like a team that's balanced and can hit hard. Also, I have little to no familiarity with the 3rd and 4th gen, so I only use 1 and 2 for the most part.

I like badasses like Scizor, Tyranitar, Arcanine, Starmie, Ampharos, and... I dunno... Hitmonchan, I guess. Plenty of variety and badass-lookingness.

If Pokemon allowed for multiple save files like MILLIONS OF OTHER GAMES DO TODAY JEEEEEEEEEZ, I would love to attempt a playthrough with a team less balanced, for both challenge and certain geeky reasons. But no, I get attached to the team I go through my game with, and I don't like the idea of having to pick one of the other. Boohoo =p

unij: YOU BET KID (O 3O Bworp Bworp)
The pettiest and absolutely least important of all the things that are bothering me right now:

Yes, I know, I get it. Pokemon is basically glorified cockfighting. Hahahahahaha this is a hilarious thing to bring up, let us mention it and drive it into the ground of every single Let's Play ever made. There are so many more logical fallacies to focus in this story concept, guys. Let's talk about why Professors of these monsters never have more than three of them around, or why there are no actual hospitals for people, or the realization that certain Pokemon, like Alakazam, are hundreds of times smarter than any human yet for some reason still put up with us. These are much more interesting to consider. Cool? Cool.
unij: YOU BET KID (Ah... this one is... formidable...)
It is truly ridiculous, the fact that I manage to have drama about my stupid Pokewalker. Though, I guess I don't need to worry about it anymore; the front half of it fell off at some point during my walk home from work without my noticing, and thusly I can assume it is lost forever. With how bad it was glitching out, I don't really mind, but it had my Vulpix in it D=

The latest drama at XI is a real stretch for me. Hajime was already mentally close to the breaking point after being trapped in the past, and I can't have him ignore the fact that the school is suddenly alive. He's having a total breakdown, and I'm just hoping that he'll be able to get through it in one piece. Morrison was having a really harsh time after a certain talk with Derrick, too, and this is not helping him think things through clearly. Franky doesn't really care, but I miss his Dad-logs already. Ugh.

Wow it's been four days since I updated this sucker MY LIFE IS BORING

Day 21: A song you listen to when you're happy

Pretty much all mys songs are happy. This is one that is suitably catchy.

Day 22: A song you listen to when you're sad

Not much to add there. Makes me giggle.

Day 23: A song you want to play at your wedding

Hahahahahahahahahahaha I am so not having a wedding, but uhhh here's an awesome sequence about that afterglow feeling |D

Day 24: A song you want to play at your funeral

Again... not much to add =3

derp )
unij: YOU BET KID (Franky's deep soul)
Bluhhhh families are complicated. Why can't everything in the world make sense and be easy. Conveniently, though, playing Franky in various threads in total Dad-mode has been unbelievably therapeutic. The guy knows how to reduce things down to a place where the answer feels obvious; feeling bad about what's going on won't get anything done. All thins considered about him, the fact that he's a calming presence is kind of hilarious. "I did it my way," indeed.

My Pokewalker is broken again, though. Even worse than before. It pisses me off.

Day 18: A song you wish you heard on the radio

I have often wished that there were radio stations that played video game music; there's some stuff that is really beautiful to listen to, be it instrumental background music or things with lyrics like this.

Day 19: A song from your favorite album

I don't really pay attention to albums themselves? I care more about artists. Annnd my more favorite artists have already taken previous Days, so... but this makes a good opportunity to talk about how awesome the Homestuck soundtracks are. I don't think there's been any updates that have pumped me up as hard as this one, though Act 4's conclusion was undeniably epic. This one finally made me realize how huge all the stuff going on is, and as ever the music couldn't be more fitting.

Day 20: A song you listen to when you're angry

As I've said before, I don't really have much sad or angry music. So when I'm frustrated, I prefer to channel that into a feeling of badassery, like whatever is opposing me, I don't have to worry about it; I'm more bad than it is.

Even on your song list... LOCK ON! )
unij: YOU BET KID (Badass Enough To Not Care)
My Pokewalker is a loser who cannot keep a battery charged for more than a damn month. Grrr.

Also, the coworker I filled in for today has some serious issues. It is not the first time her alcohol habit has impeded her ability to work; she's called in sick many more times, along with storming out of work, and sometimes even going to get drinks in between the rushes. I'm surprised Ganager hasn't fired her ages ago, but he's been known to be really resistant to the idea of firing his workers; Ckoworker was a prime example, it took a real clusterfuck to finally get him to act on that. Hrmph.

In more entertaining news, Nanager apparently has plans to start showing The Room once a month at our theater. Yeah, that The Room. We'll see how that works out.

Day 06: A song that reminds you of somewhere

Unfortunately, none of the versions of BNL's Best Hits album are available to embed, but pretty much any one of their songs in here will remind me of Florida, where my mother and I occasionally will visit her friend. One visit, I listened to the aforementioned album pretty much nonstop, forever implanting the association. I loved visiting over there, so it's a good thing. Also, who doesn't love a song about Yoko Ono? So long as it's not... actually sung by Yoko.

List o' songs )
unij: YOU BET KID (Just One More Minute)
Apparently my parents are moving. I mean, my dad has been super excited for a week or so about this house not too far up the hill from us, with a fabulous view and not much else. But Dad doesn't get excited about much, so despite Mom's reservations she let him go ahead and start looking, but we were thinking--and kind of hoping--that it would fall through. But it sounds like things are getting serious. It's not a far move, but packing up and cleaning up our place for sale is a big process. And, on top of that, my sister just... two days ago, I guess, got an offer with a friend to share an apartment. She's been really wanting to move out lately, with how nuts Mom can get, so she's thrilled to take it up. Weird how these things line up, I guess.

Okay, I don't know why, but for some reason watching playthroughs of Persona 4 is something I find hilarious. I swear I've watched the same 4 hours of opening plot with three different comedy tracks. I found the guys who did the Endurance Run and it is cracking me up. I am a loser.

Pokemon news: Red is a bastard with ridic-level pokemon and I had my butt handed to me. I managed to get through 4 of his six, but that was with spamming hyper potions the whole way and getting a lot of help from the hail. Also I had to sacrifice one of my main 6 in order to use Rock Climb. This is why I hate HMs.

Day 06: A song that reminds you of someone

Back in 2nd or 3rd grade, I had a friend who I would hang out with all the time, with weekly playdates. Whenever she came to my house, we'd bust out the Beanie Babies and play with them while my clock-CD player went on in the background. I didn't have a very evolved taste in music back then, all my CDs were cartoon and movie soundtracks, and the Rugrat Movie one the leading one for that time. She ended up going to live overseas for a year, and by the time she got back we had grown apart. We were still classmates up through high school, but never really hung out since. It happens.

Song List )
unij: YOU BET KID (Psy-yai-yai...)
Have you guys heard about that movie, The Kids Are All Right? It's gotten a lot of positive buzz, and it's our most popular movie at the theater right now. Almost everyone comes out looking pleased, but as of today, our fourth day with the movie, there have been two walk-outs who make sure to share their feelings of how terrible and offensive it is.

First was on opening night, a woman who stormed out, growling "I hate that movie," and when we ask her, as she storms past, why she feels that way, she says that the main characters, a lesbian couple, are "sell outs" because one of them made out with the male lead. I guess I can understand that point of view, a little, since it's gotta be pretty annoying to have so little representation of lesbians in Hollywood, only to have it twisted a little, but... the trailer for the movie showed that was going to happen. And I think storming out before seeing how the thing was resolved is a bit hasty.

Then there was today, when two girls came in to see the movie. They commented on how much they liked my coworker's shirt, which was a promotional one for the movie, with the title written on the front. We had spares, so we gave them two for free. About an hour into the movie, they came out, asking for their money back, because the movie was racist (the male lead was rude to the gardener, they said), misogynistic, and the couple appeared to be verbally abusive to each other, played for laughs. I mean, I haven't seen the movie yet, but I think there's a lot of assumptions being put in there. I mean, there's no laugh track, can you really be sure all of the above is played for laughs, and not meant to be commentary? And aren't there lots of couples who trash talk to each other for the fun of it? I wouldn't know, admittedly.

...There's no real point to this above rambling, it's one thirty in the morning and I'm just rehashing the things me and my coworkers were saying.

Moving on to less political things! After spending a bunch of time in Pokemon leveling up a few spare Poke's for the sake of evolving and adding to the 'Dex, it is really refreshing to get back with my main six, and actually feeling like the leveling up process has a point. Also I'm finally en route to Mt. Silver, which contains Pokemon with a decent exp. rate turnover and that feels awesome. Not to mention I caught like four new guys in an hour, that was awesome--I always made a point of trying to only catch the first in an evolutionary chain and evolving them naturally, but after realizing I never actually followed up on that I have started being a little more progressive. It feels good.

Also I really like my neighbor she is a sweetheart who pays me a ton to look after her cat sometimes but it would be great if she actually emailed me with instructions when she says she is going to. This is for the sake of her gimp cat after all.

Day 04: A song that makes you sad

To be honest, I don't really listen to very many sad songs at all. I don't like feeling sad. I like to feel happy. My iPod is full of songs that either make me feel happy, or make me feel badass, or make me feel like a total geek. Or some combination of the three. Songs make me most sad when I have something sad to associate them with. And no scene has ever made me cry harder than the one I associate this song with.
